Pastor Ross on the class of 2001
1. How long have you been teaching at Faith Baptist School?
This is my fourth year (my senior year, as well!).
2. What are the best moments that you have had with the class of 2001?
The end of every school year! There are quite a few, I suppose. The times I've been able to preach in chapel; teach you guys in Bible class; the sports seasons I've been able to coach you in; road trips (minus the screaming/singing on volleyball trips); making fun of all the goofs in LINC land (remember Casillas ripping on that guy's voice in Spanish?).
3. What have you learned from us, the class of 2001?
Never, ever ask God for patience because He will test you!
4. What are your hopes for this class?
I don't know that I could do this individually because basically my hopes and prayers are the same for each of you guys: I pray that each of you will remain faithful to God. There is nothing more important. That in ten years you will have successful ministries and families that love God and are willing to do His will.
5. What do you predict each of us will be doing in ten years?
a. Jesse- Living in a Volcswagon Bus, working for Systems Management.
b. Ben- A trial lawyer: if you don't agree with him, you're dumb!
c. Amy- Professional student; Co-owner of Culver's.
d. Laura- With Laura, I can't tell. Something to do with pizza.
e. Stephanie- Owner of a Winnie the Pooh manufacturing plant.
f. Chris- A biologist, teacher, police officer, etc. (Depends on who has the cutest guys.)
6.What is the one lesson that you have taught that you hope your students will remember throughout life?
That no matter the trials, hardships or even blessings that may come your way, you never, ever give up the Christian life. There are four words that DO NOT belong in a Christian's vocabulary: "I can't" and "I quit."
7. What is your favorite Bible verse? Why?
Proverbs 3:5-6. This is the verse God used to turn my life around. I was head-deep in self-centeredness and pride trying to do everything my own way. Once I hit rock bottom, God told me I had to trust Him.
8. Please write a brief summary of your testemony.
This is no joke! It was a sunny Sunday morning when I was in third grade. I was out in my front yard (by myself) playing tackle football. I can remember looking up to the sky after I had just delivered to myself the most crushing tackle you've ever seen. I wondered if there really was a God. I had heard His name (mostly in vain) and wondered if such a person really existed. The following Sunday, for the very first time, my mom took me to church where I finally heard what God had done for me. A few short months later at AWANA, my leader led me to the Lord on the last step in the basement of Prospect Baptist Church. Praise God I'm saved.
